Local Authority Governor appointed by Local Authority and Vice Chair of Governing Body.
Serving on Finance, Premises and Personnel Committee, Pay Review Committee and Headteacher’s Performance Committee.
Term of office: 28th April 2014 to 27th April 2018.
I became a Local Authority governor of our school in April 2010 after retiring from my role as headteacher of Escomb Primary School where I had been for 27 years. I currently work as an Educational Consultant. I am now vice-chair of the governing body and serve on the Finance, Premises and Personnel Committee, the Pay Review Committee and the Headteacher’s Performance Management Committee. My area of responsibility on the governing body is in supporting and developing International Links. Originally from the Midlands I moved to County Durham to study and settled here with my wife, Clare. We have two children and one grandchild, Oliver, who attended Etherley Lane Nursery School.
In my leisure time I enjoy music, photography, walking and am an enthusiastic supporter of Wolverhampton Wanderer s (Wolves). I am frequently at the school and try to attend as many events as possible. I love seeing the enthusiasm and joy that the children have in their learning and the skills and commitment of our amazing staff. The smiles and excitement of both children and staff are enough reward for the time that I volunteer as a governor. It is a privilege to be part of such a lovely caring, supportive and successful school.
